Microsoft, Tivo Make Peace In DVR Patent Battle

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 6:11 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. and TiVo Inc. reached a comprehensive truce in their patent war over digital video recording technology Thursday, announcing in a regulatory filing that the companies would end litigation in both California federal court and the International Trade Commission.

The agreement brings to a close more than two years of litigation over TiVo's set-top box products, subscription services and software, which Microsoft claimed infringed its patents covering DVR technology. Tivo said the settlement involved no money or licensing agreements.
