NYC's Pier Sixty Pays $8.5M To Settle Servers' FLSA Action

Law360, New York (March 23, 2012, 12:49 PM EDT) -- New York banquet hall Pier Sixty has agreed to pay $8.5 million to a class of waitstaff who alleged their employer held onto their tips and failed to pay overtime, according to a settlement motion filed Thursday.

The deal, filed in New York federal court, would release Pier Sixty of its liability for allegedly withholding gratuities and overtime pay, actions which the class of servers said constituted violations of the New York Labor Law and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
