Enviros Sue LA County Over Massive Residential Project

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 11:19 PM EDT) -- Five environmental groups on Thursday launched a suit against Los Angeles County over its approval of permits that will allow the construction of Newhall Ranch, a residential development slated for 12,000 acres along the Santa Clara River.

The suit questions the legality of the county’s approval process. It claims the project will have substantial negative environmental impacts on water quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and habitat and wildlife movements.
