Wal-Mart Faces Class Action Over Bogus Joint Health Pills

Law360, New York (March 27, 2012, 1:33 PM EDT) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on Monday became the target of a proposed California class action filed by a customer who claims the company violated false advertising, unfair competition and consumer protection laws in marketing a joint health supplement.

The plaintiff, Kay Eckler, contends she and others who purchased the Equate brand Glucosamine Chondroitin MSM Advanced Triple Strength pills relied on Wal-Mart’s false claims that the product would “rebuild cartilage,” “lubricate joints” and “support joint comfort,” when in fact the pills allegedly do none of those things....
