Inventor Says Apple, Sony Lifted Patented Data Technology

Law360, New York (March 28, 2012, 8:40 PM EDT) -- A South African inventor accused Apple Inc. and Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC Tuesday in California federal court of infringing his patent for a data vending system as part of their iTunes and Sony Playstation network systems.

Benjamin Grobler, a citizen and resident of South Africa, claims in two separate suits that Apple and Sony infringed U.S. Patent Number 6,799,084, titled "Data vending system," which was issued to Grobler in September 2004.
