Groupon To Pay $8.5M To End MDL Over Shortdated Deals

Law360, New York (March 30, 2012, 5:04 PM EDT) -- Groupon Inc. has reached an $8.5 million settlement with the plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation accusing the daily deal giant of selling certificates with illegal expiration dates, according to documents filed in California federal court Thursday.

The plaintiffs have asked District Judge Dana M. Sabraw to approve the settlement for a class of Groupon customers who purchased one or more Groupon vouchers for redemption at Groupon merchant partners from November 2008 through December 2011.
