Hasbro Loses Bid To Halt Monopoly Add-Ons

Law360 (April 8, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge in New York has rejected toy maker Hasbro Inc.'s bid for a preliminary injunction against sales of a game that adds features to its Monopoly game.

U.S. District Judge Gerard Lynch in the Southern District of New York ruled that closely held RADGames can resume production of its Super Add-Ons, which provides new destinations for the Monopoly real-estate game.

RADGames' version "added a new, original creation to the market which is designed for use" with the Monopoly game "but is distinctive in its own right," the judge said, according to RADGames.
