Highway Agency OKs New Ramps For $3B Queens Project

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 3:06 PM EDT) -- The Federal Highway Administration has approved two new ramps for the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens, New York, near a 62-acre former ash dump, removing a major hurdle to the city's $3 billion Willets Point redevelopment plan, a NYC Economic Development Corp. representative said Tuesday.

The FHWA said the city's proposal to add new connections to the highway in an effort to improve the flow of traffic between the Van Wyck Expressway and the Willets Point development would have “no significant effect on the human environment.”...
