Riverkeeper Flays Enviro Plan For $5B Tappan Zee Rebuild

Law360, New York (April 3, 2012, 4:41 PM EDT) -- Riverkeeper Inc. on Monday tore into a $5.2 billion plan to rebuild New York's Tappan Zee Bridge, saying a draft environmental impact statement ignores the state's legal obligations and suffers from massive shortcomings that render the project "ridiculous" from a green perspective.

The group's comments came at the deadline for feedback on a legally required draft statement gauging the project's environmental footprint. State officials declined to comment on the filing Tuesday except to say they have addressed many of Riverkeeper's concerns in previous statements.
