Le Pain Quotidien's LA Spots Slack On OT, Baristas Say

Law360, New York (April 4, 2012, 5:40 PM EDT) -- Two baristas claimed the operators of upscale bakery chain Le Pain Quotidien's 10 Los Angeles locations forced employees to skip meal breaks and work overtime without additional pay, according to a proposed class action launched Tuesday in California state court.

Fabiola Cayamitte and Isael Pineda say the 10 restaurants — listed as separate corporations but operated by Le Pain as a cohesive unit, according to the Los Angeles County complaint — made hundreds of cooks, dishwashers, bussers and others continue working through their statutorily mandated rest...
