NY AG Charges 4 Over $155M Black Market HIV Drug Scam

Law360, New York (April 4, 2012, 8:28 PM EDT) -- New York state prosecutors on Wednesday charged four people with illegally distributing black market prescription HIV medications, and ordered them and a private equity owned-pharmacy chain to forfeit $155 million they allegedly billed to the state's Medicaid program.

The four defendants allegedly distributed illegally obtained HIV drugs through the Brooklyn and Suffolk County locations of the high-volume MOMS Pharmacy, a division of private equity firm H.I.G. Capital LLC's Allion Healthcare Inc. The pharmacy then sold the drugs to Medicaid recipients and billed the state's Medicaid program...
