Suit Says Del Monte Labels Make Misleading Health Claims

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 8:11 PM EDT) -- Del Monte Corp., one of the world's largest producers of food products, was slapped with a proposed class action in California federal court Thursday accusing it of mislabeling products and misleading consumers about the nutritional content and quality of some of its fruit and vegetable products.

Lead plaintiff Michael Kosta argues in his complaint that, among other things, Del Monte falsely markets its canned tomato products, FreshCut vegetable products, and Fruit Naturals products in furtherance of a "health and wellness strategy" designed to drive up sales,...
