US Will Provide Docs With Early Gulf Spill Estimates To BP

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 10:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. agreed Wednesday to turn over 100 documents requested by BP Exploration & Production Inc. that may provide further insight into how much oil was spilled into the Gulf of Mexico during the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster.

The documents could have a hand in determining BP's liability. The company asked a Louisiana federal court to force the government to turn them over late last month, arguing that the U.S. improperly withheld documents dealing with initial calculations of the amount of oil that spilled.
