US Judge Shields Microsoft From Threat Of German Ban

Law360, New York (April 11, 2012, 9:49 PM EDT) -- A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Motorola Mobility Inc. can't enforce a German court's patent ruling due next week, which could ban some Microsoft Corp. products, until he rules on claims that Motorola broke agreements to license its patents at reasonable rates.

Microsoft alleges Motorola participated in industry groups that set technology standards, including the H.264 video standards and the 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, and agreed to license related patents under reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms.
