NY Legislature Floats Bills To Punish Call Center Outsourcing

Law360, New York (April 12, 2012, 3:42 PM EDT) -- Legislation to penalize businesses for outsourcing call center jobs by denying them state contracts hit both houses of New York's legislature Wednesday, following a similar federal bill that would also give consumers the power to demand their queries are switched back to the U.S.

The New York measures, called the Save New York Call Center Jobs Act of 2012, are sponsored by Democrats Hakeem Jeffries, an assemblyman representing Brooklyn and Queens, and Timothy M. Kennedy, a senator whose district lies to the south of Buffalo....
