Calif. Bill Barring Agency Oversight Of VoIP Earns Panel's OK

Law360, San Diego (April 17, 2012, 9:57 PM EDT) -- A California Senate panel on Tuesday approved a tech industry-backed bill that would bar the state Public Utilities Commission from regulating Internet-transmitted phone calls after the bill’s author agreed to make clear that existing consumer protections wouldn't be eroded as opponents warned they could be.
