Acacia Sues Intel, Texas Instruments Over Chip Design Patent

Law360 (April 19, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A company known for the aggressive way in which it enforces its portfolio of high-tech patents has sued Intel Corp. and Texas Instruments Corp. over a chip design patent.

Acacia Research Corp. said its subsidiary Microprocessor Enhancement Corp. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against the two leading chip makers.

The lawsuit alleges patent infringement by Intel's Itanium line of microprocessors, and certain series of digital signal processors sold by Texas Instruments.
