Facebook Wants $18M Over Spamming Scheme In IP Suit

Law360, New York (April 19, 2012, 7:33 PM EDT) -- Facebook Inc. has asked the California federal judge hearing the remainder of a copyright and unfair competition suit to level more than $18 million in damages against Power Ventures Inc. over alleged violations of computer fraud and spamming laws, according to a brief unsealed Tuesday.

The brief requests the maximum damages from Power Ventures and its founder Steven Vachani, a total of $18.24 million, over the alleged sending of at least 60,000 spam messages to Facebook users, in violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act...
