CBS Says Family Channel Owes $1.5M In 'Happy Days' Fees

Law360, New York (April 20, 2012, 5:32 PM EDT) -- ComStar Media LLC's network FamilyNet refuses to pay licensing fees to CBS Television Distribution for old sitcoms such as "Happy Days" and "Family Ties" and has already stiffed CBS for more than $1.5 million, according to a lawsuit filed last week in California federal court.

CBS' complaint, filed April 16, alleges ComStar has claimed that when it bought FamilyNet in 2009, it did not acquire an obligation to pay for the CBS shows, which also include "My Three Sons" and "Early Edition."
