Moving Cos. Fuel Surcharge Suits Become MDL

Law360, New York (August 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two proposed class actions accusing a number of U.S. moving companies of charging improper fuel surcharges have been consolidated into multidistrict litigation.

Finding that they had common questions of fact, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation consolidated the two suits in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina under the title In re: Household Goods Movers Antitrust Litigation. Judge C. Weston Houck will oversee the multidistrict case.
