NYC Tweaks Upper West Side Retail Rezoning Plan

Law360, New York (April 24, 2012, 7:20 PM EDT) -- In the face of mounting pressure from local stakeholders, the New York City Department of City Planning modified its retail rezoning plan for the city's Upper West Side on Tuesday to provide greater flexibility for shop owners and landlords in the area.

The department made the changes after banks, retailers and other local property tenants and owners raised concerns about the original rezoning plan, which they say would choke off the ability of existing neighborhood storefronts to expand.
