Class Cert. Granted In Experian FCRA Suit Over Towing Debt

Law360, New York (May 1, 2012, 5:04 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge granted class certification Friday to a group of plaintiffs alleging Experian Information Solutions Inc. disclosed consumers’ credit reports to a towing debt collection company in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages under the FCRA for Experian’s alleged willful violation when it furnished consumer reports to Finex Group LLC and failed to verify that Finex was using those reports for a permissible purpose, even though Experian had reason to believe Finex was not doing so, according to...
