Ex-Sales Rep Hits Alaska Telecom Giant With OT Suit

Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 5:42 PM EDT) -- A former employee of Alaska Communications Systems Group Inc. on Monday hit the telecommunications company with a proposed class and collective action in Alaska federal court, accusing it of refusing to pay basic overtime wages to its sales and marketing staff while making millions in profits.

Lead plaintiff Laura Lee Peterson alleges in her complaint that Alaska Communications and its parent, Alaska Communications Systems Holdings Inc., “in pursuit of their own single-minded interest in profits,” deprived her of more than $100,000 in overtime pay by intentionally misclassifying...
