Court Clears Dolby Labs In Patent Dispute With Lucent

Law360, New York (April 25, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California federal court has cleared audio technology developer Dolby Laboratories of infringing two Lucent Technologies patents for digitally encoding and decoding audio signals.

In granting summary judgment of noninfringement, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California found that Lucent had not presented evidence that Dolby’s AC-3 technology infringes either of the two disputed patents, Dolby said.
