4th Hitachi-LG Exec Cops To Disk Drive Bid-Rigging Plot

Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 4:47 PM EDT) -- A fourth executive of a joint venture between electronics makers Hitachi Ltd. and LG Electronics Inc. has agreed to plead guilty to his role in a scheme to rig bids for the sale of optical disk drives, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday.

Woo Jin Yang, a Hitachi-LG Data Storage Inc. executive, agreed to serve six months in prison and to pay a $25,000 criminal fine. Prosecutors had accused him of plotting with others between roughly August 2006 and June 2009 to sideline competitors by...
