24 Hour Fitness' Arbitration Policy Illegal, NLRB Says

Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 9:38 PM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board slapped 24 Hour Fitness USA Inc. with a complaint Monday claiming the fitness club chain ran afoul of labor law by maintaining an arbitration policy that barred workers from pursuing class or collective actions.

The complaint, out of the NLRB's Region 20 in San Francisco, stems from a Feb. 15, 2011, unfair labor practice charge filed by 24 Hour Fitness worker Alton Sanders, and points to several instances in which the company has asked state and federal courts to compel arbitration...
