Energy Plus Uses Rate Plan Bait-And-Switch, Suit Says

Law360, New York (May 2, 2012, 5:04 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey consumer on Wednesday hit Energy Plus Holdings LLC and an affiliate with a proposed federal class action, accusing the utility company of luring customers with bait-and-switch tactics by offering low rates but charging up to 150 percent more than promised.

Lead plaintiff Yue Yu alleged in her complaint that the Philadelphia-based company violated New Jersey state laws by misleading consumers to believe that by switching to Energy Plus, they would save money over their local public utilities.
