Abbott Off The Hook In $5.5B J&J Merger Suit

Law360 (August 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The court overseeing Johnson & Johnson's $5.5 billion lawsuit over its failed bid to acquire Guidant Corp. has dismissed the case against Abbott Laboratories and tossed out a claim of tortious interference against Boston Scientific Corp., which ultimately purchased Guidant.

Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Gerard E. Lynch handed down a 43-page opinion and order granting Abbott's motion to dismiss. The opinion also granted in part and denied in part a dismissal motion by Boston Scientific and Guidant.
