News Corp. Hacking Probe Yields Charges For Rebekah Brooks

Law360, New York (May 15, 2012, 1:27 PM EDT) -- British prosecutors on Tuesday brought criminal charges against former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks, her husband and four others in connection with a phone hacking scandal that has threatened to topple Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. empire.

Brooks, 43, conspired with her husband, Charles, and the other defendants in July 2011 to thwart an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service into alleged phone hacking, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
