EchoStar Countersues TiVo, Humax Over DVR Patents

Law360, New York (May 6, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Satellite television provider EchoStar Communications has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against digital video recorder company TiVo and South Korean electronics maker Humax over DVR technology.

The complaint, filed on April 29 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleges that TiVo and Humax infringe on four EchoStar patents related to DVR technology.

TiVo filed a suit against EchoStar in January of last year alleging infringement of its "multimedia time warping system" patent.
