Twitter Latest To Join Growing Do-Not-Track Movement

Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 7:53 PM EDT) -- Twitter Inc. on Thursday enabled its users to opt out of online tracking by throwing its support behind consent mechanisms in certain Web browsers, becoming the latest company to join the do-not-track initiative being pushed by the Federal Trade Commission.

While Internet users can currently turn on features in Mozilla's Firefox and other Web browsers to block cookies that track their online activity for behavioral advertising and other purposes, that functionality will only work if a website agrees to honor the opt-out request.
