Suit Chews Out Kraft, Cadbury Over Sugarless Gum Ads

Law360, New York (May 21, 2012, 1:16 PM EDT) -- Kraft Foods Global Inc. and Cadbury Adams USA LLC were hit Thursday with a putative class action in California claiming they misled customers about the healthfulness of their "sugar free" or "sugarless" gum, breath mints and hard candies.

According to the lawsuit in California federal court, Kraft and Cadbury failed to include a required disclaimer that their "sugar free" and "sugarless" products, including Trident and Dentyne Ice sugar free gum, were not low-calorie and not for weight control.
