Pentagon Aims To Speed Closure Of Contingency Contracts

Law360, New York (May 22, 2012, 8:03 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense issued a final rule Tuesday aimed at speeding up the administration of contingency contracts, following government reports that criticized the military's slow pace of closing out contracts in Iraq.

The rule, published in the Federal Register, requires military contracting officers to perform additional planning, monitoring and executing activities for contracts in war zones, following recommendations in an August 2011 U.S. Government Accountability Office report.
