ITC Takes Up Qualcomm’s Case Against Nokia

Law360, New York (September 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Finnish cellular giant Nokia Corp. is facing an investigation by the U.S. International Trade Commission into whether some of its cell phones with GSM devices infringe Qualcomm Inc.’s technology.

The ITC launched an inquiry on Monday after Qualcomm filed a complaint in June, accusing Nokia’s cell phones of infringing six of its patents related to GSM technology, which has become the most widely used standard for mobile phones on an international scale. Qualcomm later dropped three patents from its original claim.
