Optical Co. SSG Can't Shake Ex-Employee's FCA Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (June 5, 2012, 10:00 PM EDT) -- A Massachusetts federal judge on Thursday refused to toss a former L-3 Communications SSG-Tinsley Inc. employee's False Claims Act suit accusing the optical subsystems manufacturer of defrauding the government through fraudulent billing practices.

U.S. District Judge Mark L. Wolf denied SSG's bid to nix former financial planning manager Robert F. Lafond's accusations that the company used deceptive pricing schemes and unlawfully charged labor costs as overhead costs on nine government contracts. Lafond claims the SSG bilked the government out of at least $1 million.
