ITC Judge Recommends Barring MediaTek DVD Controller Chips

Law360 (May 19, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An administrative law judge has recommended that the U.S. International Trade Commission bar imports of Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek’s optical disk controller chips for DVD players due to alleged patent infringement.

Administrative Law Judge Paul J. Luckern recommended the exclusion order based on a complaint by Zoran Corporation and its subsidiary Oak Technology.

Zoran’s complaint with the ITC had sought the prohibition of the importation into the U.S. of “certain MediaTek controller chips and chipsets.”
