NY Judge Rules DOMA Unconstitutional

Law360, New York (June 6, 2012, 11:05 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge was the latest to find portions of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional when she ruled Wednesday that the federal law refusing to recognize gay marriage interferes with states’ regulation of domestic business.

U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones found that DOMA, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman, circumvents the principles of federalism and acts to review states’ decisions about same-sex marriage.
