Calif. Democrats Face Dilemma Over Gov.’s Pension Plan

Law360, San Diego (June 7, 2012, 10:53 PM EDT) -- California Republican leaders on Wednesday called on Democrats to get moving on the governor’s stalled pension overhaul proposal — and possibly choose between union interests and constituents — after San Diego and San Jose residents overwhelmingly voted to cut retirement benefits for city employees.

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff, of Diamond Bar, and Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway, of Tulare, said despite union opposition, pension reform proposals easily passed in two large “Democratic-leaning cities” in their primary elections Tuesday.
