Levin Urges Quicker Action On Looming Defense Cuts

Law360, New York (June 12, 2012, 9:22 PM EDT) -- Sen. Carl Levin, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, urged fellow lawmakers Tuesday to quickly resolve looming across-the-board budget cuts rather than leave defense contractors and military planners paralyzed by uncertain U.S. defense spending.

Congress will likely not deal with sequestration until after the November elections, a delay that threatens the overall economy by encouraging defense contractors to sit on their cash rather than invest or create jobs, Levin said at an event hosted by the National Press Club.
