Dolby Says Monster Can't Split Headphone Logo In Two

Law360, New York (June 13, 2012, 7:13 PM EDT) -- Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corp. told a California federal judge Tuesday that rival Monster Cable Products Inc. is barred by precedent from asking the court to dissect an unregistered mark into separate parts in a trademark dispute over the companies' respective lines of headphones.

Monster, in a suit filed in November, is hoping to win declaratory judgment from the court that its pending headphone trademark does not infringe on Dolby's own, similar headphone logo, arguing that the addition of a pair of headphones to its pre-existing company...
