Package Of Housing Reform Bills Clears NY Assembly

Law360, New York (June 14, 2012, 5:54 PM EDT) -- The Democrat-controlled New York State Assembly on Wednesday passed a 12-bill housing reform package designed to strengthen rent regulation laws and preserve existing affordable housing.

The package centers on legislation that would protect families living in existing affordable housing units in the state from being priced out of their homes by rent increases, according to a joint statement released by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Housing Committee Chair Vito Lopez.
