Fla. Judge Knocks Down Football Helmet Concussion Suit

Law360, New York (June 18, 2012, 6:20 PM EDT) -- Easton-Bell Sports Inc. and Riddell Inc. have dodged allegations for now that they misrepresented the ability of their football helmets to prevent concussions, as a Florida federal judge Thursday tentatively dismissed a range of putative class action claims against the sports equipment manufacturers.

U.S. District Judge Paul Huck, after hearing oral arguments, dismissed the bulk of the claims against the two manufacturers without prejudice but gave plaintiff Frank Enriquez, who purchased the helmets for his high-school-football-playing sons, leave to amend the complaint.
