5th Circ. Upholds Halo's Ch. 11 Stay Exemptions

Law360, New York (June 18, 2012, 10:20 PM EDT) -- The Fifth Circuit on Monday affirmed a Texas bankruptcy court's ruling that exempted private suits brought before public commissions from telecom Halo Wireless Inc.'s Chapter 11 automatic stay, so long as they don't attempt to impose a monetary judgment.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Halo sought bankruptcy protection in August 2011 after a host of local telephone companies brought 20 separate actions before public utility commissions in 10 states.
