Pfizer Storing Up $330M To Settle Menopause Drug Suits

Law360, New York (June 19, 2012, 7:55 PM EDT) -- Pfizer Inc. has set aside $330 million to settle multidistrict litigation and other remaining claims over injuries allegedly caused by hormone replacement therapies such as Prempro, a sum that would bring the drugmaker's total litigation losses to $1.2 billion, according to a regulatory filing last month.

About 40 percent of the 10,000 suits filed to date over the drugs are still pending in U.S. federal and state courts and in Canada, Pfizer said in a May 10 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The...
