Whistleblowers Say Merck Falsified Mumps Vaccine Data

Law360, New York (June 21, 2012, 7:10 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal court on Tuesday unsealed a False Claims Act suit filed by two former Merck & Co. employees accusing the company of using improper testing techniques and falsified vaccine data to fabricate a high efficacy rate for its mumps vaccine.

The case, launched by Stephen A. Krahling and Joan A. Wlochowski, was unsealed after the federal government declined to intervene in the case, which accuses Merck of costing the U.S. hundreds of millions of dollars for a vaccine that does not provide adequate immunization.
