SEIU's High Court Loss May Spur Battle Over Union Fees

Law360, New York (June 21, 2012, 10:48 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday dealt a blow to public sector unions by siding with California state employees challenging a union fee hike that raised funds for political activism, and attorneys say the majority's opinion could set the stage for the unions to lose an even larger battle over whether fees can ever be imposed on nonmembers except on an opt-in basis.
