Inventor Wins Patent Suit Vs. Microsoft Over Features In MS Office

Law360, New York (June 6, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California federal jury has awarded a developer $9 million after determining that Microsoft Corp. misappropriated technology used to link spreadsheet data between its Excel spreadsheet and its Access database program.

An eight-person jury deliberated more than two days last week and reached a verdict Friday. But U.S. District Judge David Carter was out of town, so the decision was not announced until Monday.
