Jury To Decide If Broker Deserves $15M Payout, Judge Says

Law360, New York (June 25, 2012, 6:47 PM EDT) -- A New York state judge ruled Friday that a jury must decide whether Tishman Speyer Properties LP owes a broker $15 million over an advertising agency's decision to renew the lease on its downtown Manhattan offices.

Judge Shirley Werner Kornreich found that the language in the original 1985 lease and a renewed 2008 lease — specifically, the phrase "generally consonant" — wasn't clear enough to rule on the broker's breach of contract claim on competing motions for summary judgment.
