Nuclear Renaissance To Face Steep Hurdles

But the reality of the next generation of nuclear reactors in the U.S. hit home in late September, when NRG Energy Inc. filed a completed request to operate a new reactor — the first full application submitted to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a new nuclear plant in almost 30 years.
