2nd Circ. Tosses Woman's Claim To Yankees' Top-Hat Logo

Law360, New York (June 26, 2012, 3:49 PM EDT) -- A woman who claimed to own a stake in the New York Yankees' top-hat logo struck out Tuesday, when the Second Circuit said the logo was clearly designed under a work-for-hire agreement.

Though the appeals court disagreed with some of the lower court's logic, it nonetheless affirmed its decision to toss the suit filed by Tanit Buday, who said her uncle designed the iconic logo in 1936 but was never paid for his work.
